Antique Japanese Nambu-Tekki Bokkusu Cast Iron Lacquer Box 南部 鉄器 Art Nouveau c1900 Japan Début XXéme

  • An antique Japanese Nambu-Tekki Bokkusu, cast iron lacquer box with a lift off lid.
  • Made from hand cast iron; 南部 鉄器
  • The lid has a quintessential Art Nouveau flower buds pattern, with a bud in each of the four corners, indications of a garden.
  • In the center of the lid, as the lid "pull", is a tiny stylized cricket, for good luck.
  • The Japanese art of Nambu-tekki (cast iron) began in the middle of the 17th century and continues today.
  • The characteristic black color of this box is the result of a lacquer glaze called urushi which ages over time, oxidizing, and acquiring a beautiful patina.
  • There is a thin surface coating of brown rust over all the surfaces of the box; our cameras make the box appear blacker than it is.
  • The sides are canted; they slant inwards so the top measures a little larger than the bottom.
  • COUNTRY of Origin: France.

SIZE:

  • The sides are canted; they slant inwards so the top measures a little larger than the bottom.
  • Measured across the lid, this measures overall approximately 10,5 cm length x 7 cm width // 4.25 inches length x 2.75 inches width.
  • The height as measured from bottom to top measures approximately 4 cm // 1.5 inches.

CONDITION:

  • By " antique " we mean over 100 years of age.
  • By " vintage " we mean between 50 and 100 years of age.

Boite Japonais En Fer Forge Nambu-Tekki Bokkusu Style Liberté Début XXéme.

  • Magnifique boite Japonais en fer forgé.
  • Le couvercle a un modèle de boutons floraux style Art Nouveau / Liberté par excellence, avec un bourgeon dans chacun des quatre coins, des indications d’un jardin.
  • Dans le centre du couvercle, comme le couvercle « pull », est un petit grillon stylisé, pour la bonne chance.
  • The Japanese art de Nambu-tekki (fonte) a commencé au milieu du XVIIe siècle et se poursuit aujourd'hui.
  • La couleur noire caractéristique de cette boîte est le résultat d’un vernis incolore appelé urushi qui vieillit au fil du temps, oxydants et acquérir une belle patine.
  • Il est une fine couche de surface de brune rouille sur toutes les surfaces de la boîte ; nos caméras que la boîte apparaissent plus noirs que c’est.
  • Les côtés de la boîte sont inclinées ; ils inclinent vers l’intérieur afin que le haut des mesures un peu plus grand que le fond.
  • Frais de port en sus.
