This superb XIX century Anglo-Burman oxblood solid wood apothecary's storage cabinet is remarkably sturdy and solid, of typical design, utility, and construction for its' type and age. It holds a great deal of weight for its' size. Can be used as a letter cabinet to keep documents and writing implements such as paper, stationary, pens, brushes, inks, wax and seal presses organized. This has a slight musty smell; nothing odorous.

This has the original finish of deep oxblood (red mahogany brown) as shown in the detailed photos of the finish. The oxblood patina is quite rich and dark, and the finish is commensurate with age. We've tried to show its' remarkable character in the detailed photos. Please note the photographs of the top and sides of the piece as they show finish details and the character and unevenness of the wood under the paint.

The round metal drawer pulls are the originals; they're actually brads that affix to the drawers through holes drilled through the front panels of the drawers.

There are a total of five (5) drawers, in assorted sizes. There is one deep, rectangular drawer (center right facing). The top and bottom long rectangular drawers are the same size as are the two center smaller rectangular drawers.

All the drawers are stained oxblood black on their interiors and on their exterior sides, and there is age oxidation to the exterior sides, noticeable by comparing the drawers' interior color with the color on their exterior sides. All the drawers pull straight out; there are no stops. When all the drawers are removed, you can see vestiges of paper lining the undersides of all the shelf areas.
